Laser Mapping is a non-contact, non-destructive technology that digitally captures the shape of physical objects using a line of laser light. Reflector dots are placed all around the object. Lasers reflect off the dots capturing a physical object’s exact size and shape into the computer world as a digital 3-dimensional representation.
3D laser scanning is best suited to the measurement and inspection of contoured surfaces and complex geometries. A traditional measurement method or a touch probe could not obtain the massive amounts of data needed for an accurate description required for Laser Mapping.
