Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) at XCEL NDT
Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a term used to explain examination techniques that inspect metal materials and/or components without damaging the piece. NDT methods can be performed while equipment and/or parts are still in operation. Analyzing, locating and sizing a flaw, both on the surface and subsurface, is the information non-destructive testing offers clients.
Non-destructive testing (NDT), Non-destructive evaluation (NDE) or Non-destructive inspection (NDI) are common words used to describe this type of inspection method. NDT is essential in the evaluation process that ensures materials and welds meet associated code requirements and will operate safely. Being able to evaluate equipment, materials, and welds while in operation, or while out of service, and causing no damage to the working parts makes NDT an invaluable inspection that can help clients troubleshoot issues efficiently as possible.
NDT applies to all sectors within the oil and gas industries and provide valuable data in almost all manufacturing and construction phases. Industries XCEL NDT services include: all upstream/midstream/downstream sectors in the oil and gas industry; fabrication and manufacturing facilities; structural integrity and special inspections in the construction industry; utility companies; chemical plants; and railroads/railcars.
